Dr. Richard Karrel prepared well for his successful career in medicine at various prestigious learning institutions. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago and went on to receive his Master’s in Medical Sciences from the Free University of Brussels in Belgium. After that, Dr. Richard Karrel enrolled in Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. At the University of Chicago, Dr. Richard Karrel completed his residency in emergency medicine.
His career has included various positions, and Dr. Richard Karrel possesses experience in a number of sectors, including emergency medicine as well as substance abuse treatment. He has established three drug and alcohol centers and currently is the Medical Director of Richard Karrel, MD, PSC Narcotic Management Program, a medical facility he founded in Louisville, Kentucky. There, he treats chronic pain sufferers through a combination of medications.

He counts among his favorite authors German novelist Franz Kafka and Sol Stein, who not only wrote 13 books but worked as the editor-in-chief and publisher of Stein & Day Publishing for 27 years. Dr. Richard Karrel lists two of his favorite books as The Trial by Kafka and The Magician: A Novel by Sol Stein. Inspired by these authors Dr. Karrel recently published his first novel titled 911.
